Q1 2021 Insights: Top iOS Fitness & Weight Loss Apps in Australia

In the first quarter of 2021, the Australian iOS market for Fitness and Weight Loss applications saw varied trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users. Data provided by Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into how these apps fared during this period.

MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter experienced a peak in revenue during the first week of March, reaching nearly $93K, with a general upward trend in revenue from the start of the year. Downloads saw a high in the first week of January with approximately 13K new users, but there was a gradual decline to 6K by the end of March. Weekly active users peaked at 327K in the first week of January and demonstrated a slight fluctuating trend, ending the quarter with around 292K active users.

Fitbit: Health & Fitness also saw a revenue peak in the last week of March at $37K, following an overall upward revenue trend. Downloads started strong at nearly 13K in the last week of December but dropped to around 4K by the end of March. The app maintained a steady base of weekly active users, starting with 69K and slightly increasing to 72K during the first week of March before ending the quarter with 67K active users.

Strava: Run, Bike, Hike showed a revenue peak in the third week of February at approximately $34K. The app's downloads were highest in the first week of January at over 6K but dipped to 3K by the end of March. The weekly active users for Strava started at 157K and showed a decrease to 140K by the end of the quarter.

Garmin Connect™, which does not report any revenue, had its highest downloads at the end of December with over 8K, but this number fell to around 3K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users witnessed a decrease from 481K at the beginning of the quarter to 440K towards the end of March.

Lastly, PhysiApp, with no reported revenue, saw a significant increase in downloads from 1K at the end of December to a peak of 3K in the second week of February. The weekly active users for PhysiApp grew from 13K to a high of 17K in the third week of March, before a slight drop to 16K at the quarter's close.
